C40 Cities – Waste to Resources (C40) is a global network of major cities committed to climate action and sustainable urban development. It supports member cities in reducing greenhouse gas emissions through improved waste and materials management strategies.
In the area of bio-waste, C40 promotes separate collection of organic waste, food waste prevention, composting, anaerobic digestion and methane reduction from landfills. The network provides technical assistance, peer learning, policy guidance and access to finance to help cities integrate organic waste recovery into climate-neutral urban systems. By encouraging circular economy approaches, resource efficiency and innovation in municipal waste infrastructure, C40 strengthens the role of bio-waste treatment and bio-based solutions in achieving urban climate and sustainability goals worldwide.
