The Association for the Sustainability of the Earth System (ZERO; Portuguese: Associação Sistema Terrestre Sustentável) is a Portuguese environmental NGO focused on policy advocacy in waste management, circular economy, and sustainable resource use. It evaluates EU policy implementation nationally and supports local policy development by promoting demonstrative projects and the dissemination of best practices.
ZERO engages stakeholders at national, regional, and municipal levels to test the technical and financial feasibility of bio-waste collection and management policies. The organisation strengthens municipal zero-waste plans, promotes composting and organic recycling, and contributes to circular bioeconomy practices through research, advocacy, and stakeholder collaboration.
ZERO is partner in the CirBioWaste project.
