The Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB, Catalan: Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) is a leading educational and research institution in Spain with extensive experience participating in European research and innovation programmes. UAB’s Composting Research Group (GICOM) focuses on innovative bio-waste management solutions, production of value-added products through biological processes, and development of decentralised composting systems. Its research contributes to sustainability, circular bioeconomy, and the advancement of organic waste recovery strategies across urban and regional contexts.

UAB is the coordinator of the CirBioWaste project.
