A dynamic database of relevant technologies of bio-waste utilisation
Tech4bio-waste supports the deployment of bio-waste valorisation technologies in Europe by developing an open, user-oriented online technology database covering food waste and garden/park waste. The project’s core objective is to provide a comprehensive overview of 36 bio-waste conversion technologies (TRL 4–9), enabling technology providers to showcase solutions and technology seekers to identify, compare, and assess suitable options. Co-created with actors across the bio-waste value chain, the platform integrates a decision-support tool to evaluate commercialisation potential. As a key result, Tech4bio-waste delivers a robust database with over 100 detailed technology and company profiles, supported by open-source IT solutions and links to existing bioeconomy platforms. The project actively engages stakeholders through co-creation workshops, trainings, an advisory board, and a testing panel, and establishes a business and continuation model to ensure long-term maintenance and expansion of the platform.
