The Association of Catalan Towns for Door-to-Door Selective Waste Collection “Porta a Porta” (Catalan: Associació de Municipis Catalans per a la Recollida Selectiva Porta a Porta) promotes the door-to-door (PaP) model across Catalonia. Founded in 2002, it supports municipalities in implementing systems where households and businesses separate waste at source and present each fraction, including bio-waste, on scheduled days.

The model aims to maximise high-quality separate collection, especially of bio-waste. By removing mixed street containers and limiting residual waste, it reduces contamination and improves the purity of the organic fraction, enabling efficient composting and anaerobic digestion.

Now implemented in over 300 municipalities, PaP has achieved high capture rates of organic waste, reduced residual waste and supported the production of quality compost and biogas within municipal systems.

Porta a Porta is an associated partner in the CirBioWaste project.
