Mediterranean Dialogue for Waste Management Governance
Med4Waste facilitates new governance models for integrated and efficient urban waste management across the Mediterranean region, responding to growing pressures from urbanisation, tourism, pollution, climate change, and declining biodiversity. As a capitalisation project under the ENI CBC Med Programme, it builds on and disseminates successful practices from previous initiatives, with a strong focus on organic waste prevention, separate collection, and circular economy solutions. Med4Waste strengthens institutional and technical capacities through training and mentoring activities, including a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) on zero waste and circular economy practices, a catalogue of 22 innovative waste management solutions, and a policy toolkit for decision-makers. The project supports the development and improvement of Integrated Municipal Waste Management Plans in selected cities and delivers extensive awareness-raising campaigns, reinforcing cross-border cooperation and sustainable resource use across the Mediterranean Basin.
