SPRING is Italy’s Circular Bioeconomy Cluster, founded in 2014, bringing together research centres, companies, institutions and regional actors to drive systemic, sustainable growth. Recognised as a national coordination hub, it supports policy development, innovation and territorial deployment in the bioeconomy. The cluster includes over 170 members, ranging from large industries and SMEs to universities, public research organisations and technology transfer actors.
SPRING fosters cross-sector collaboration, promotes research and industrial innovation, and participates in European projects. Its activities are structured through thematic working groups (e.g. sludge, food & nutraceuticals, wood & biomass, communication, bio-based industries and R&I), which develop position papers and address regulatory barriers. Through events, training and dissemination, SPRING raises awareness and supports the transition to a circular bioeconomy.
