Supporting Circular Economy Opportunities for Employment and Social Inclusion
SIRCLES promotes green job creation and social inclusion across the Mediterranean by training NEETs (young people Not in Education, Employment, or Training) and women in circular bio-waste management. Through seven pilot composting facilities in Spain, Greece, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, and Tunisia, the project processes bio-waste from hotels, restaurants, retailers, and households into compost for agriculture. Combining education, skills development, and awareness campaigns, SIRCLES empowers vulnerable groups to participate in sustainable waste management and local circular economies. The project also develops policy toolkits and communication materials to support replication and share success stories. By linking waste reduction with employment, environmental sustainability, and social equity, SIRCLES provides a replicable model for inclusive circular bioeconomy solutions tailored to Mediterranean contexts.
